Group Therapy

A steady group can make difficult change less isolating.

Stonebridge offers structured, clinician-led closed therapy groups organized around a defined clinical purpose. Group work creates opportunities to notice patterns, practice new ways of relating, and receive feedback in real time.

How cooperative gameplay helps

A shared activity creates something real to work with.

Cooperative play creates interpersonal moments in real time—planning together, asking for help, adapting when someone has a different idea, recovering from mistakes, and reconnecting after friction. The clinician can work with those moments as they happen and connect them to relationships outside the game.

  • Reciprocal communication & asking for help
  • Collaboration, shared decisions & flexibility
  • Participation, initiation & behavioral activation
  • Conflict repair, mistakes & reconnecting
Who it’s designed for

Two possible areas of clinical focus.

The cohort may emphasize one or both areas, depending on the participants who make up the group.

Peer interaction

Communication & collaboration

For teens whose goals may include reciprocal communication, perspective-taking, asking for help, flexibility, collaborative problem-solving, and navigating peer interactions.

Mood & connection

Participation & social connection

For teens whose goals may include reducing withdrawal, increasing social initiation and participation, behavioral activation, contribution, and reconnecting with peers.

Clinical scope: The Lobby is for adolescents appropriate for routine outpatient telehealth group psychotherapy. Stonebridge may recommend another service when safety or monitoring needs exceed the group format.

How enrollment works

From inquiry to a closed cohort.

Step 01

Inquire

Request a consultation and share general scheduling availability.

Step 02

Review

Stonebridge reviews treatment goals, group readiness, and whether the format is appropriate.

Step 03

Form & prepare

Once a viable cohort is identified, Stonebridge coordinates the meeting time and completes consent, assent, expectations, and technology orientation before the first session.

Before joining

A few practical expectations.

Clinical setting

Clinical communication stays within Stonebridge’s telehealth platform; Steam and Stardew Valley are used only for the shared activity.

Privacy

Participants use appropriate privacy settings and may be asked to use neutral gaming names. No screenshots, recording, streaming, or sharing another participant’s information.

Parent & teen process

Guardian consent and adolescent assent are required. Parents do not ordinarily participate in sessions; expectations are reviewed before enrollment.
